Chelsea are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Marco Verratti, according to The Sun.
Antonio Conte had a close look at Verratti during his time with the Italy national team, and it appears as though he was impressed with what he saw.
The Sun report that Chelsea are desperate to sign Verratti this summer, as Conte seeks reinforcements for his midfield. The tabloid believe that the Premier League champions have already lodged a £55million opening offer.
Chelsea’s pursuit of Verratti will not be straightforward, however, it doesn’t appear as though the 24-year-old is entirely keen on making the move. According to The Sun, Verratti will snub Chelsea’s interest and look to improve his £120,000-a-week wages at the Parc des Princes.
The Sun do report, however, that PSG are open to the idea of selling Verratti, and he is still weighing up the possibility of making a stunning switch to Stamford Bridge.
