Chelsea academy product Lewis Baker is set to join Middlesbrough on a two-year loan deal, according to the Northern Echo.
As per the Northern Echo, Boro are set to allow Marten de Roon to depart to Serie A outfit Atlanta, and are going to replace him by drafting in Baker for the 2017/18 and 2018/19 campaigns.
After successful loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and ‘Chelsea B’ Vitesse Arnhem, the Northern Echo believe that Baker has now been given permission to leave Stamford Bridge on loan, and Middlesbrough looks to be his next destination.
It is disappointing to see Baker depart from a fan’s perspective, but playing at the Riverside should give him the opportunity to showcase his supreme talent and develop into the player he’s destined to be.
He is an incredibly well-rounded player for someone of his tender age, being able to use his right and left footed equally effectively. Middlesbrough will be lucky to have him.
