Antonio Conte has reportedly been offered major encouragement in his pursuit of Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie.
According to the Metro, Kessie’s performances in an Atlanta shirt have landed him on the radar of Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United. The Metro believe that both sides face competition from Atlanta’s Serie A counterparts AS Roma, but it appears as though the Ivorian may be interested in making a move to the Premier League.
The Metro quote Atalanta sporting director Giovanni Sartori, who confirms Chelsea’s interest in Kessie, and reveals that the 20-year-old is open to the idea of playing in the Premier League:
“The player wants to wait until the end of the season to make a decision, partly because he is attracted to the Premier League, as Chelsea really like him.”
There doesn’t appear to be any real need of midfield reinforcements in Antonio Conte’s side. However, if the Italian does plan on using a 3-5-2 formation in the future, opposed to the current 3-4-3, Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas may well not be sufficient options. Kessie could well be a shrewd acquisition.
