Chelsea has been linked with Antoine Griezmann in the past but not in recent times.
According to the Express, Manchester United are the clear front runners if Griezmann were to leave the Spanish capital.
Former Chelsea player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink predicts that this will be the 26-year-old’s last season at Atletico. This is what the Dutchman had to say on the situtation when speaking to the Express.
The Express quotes Hasselbaink saying:
“I think next summer, he will move. I don’t know where, but next summer he will move.”
Since joining Atletico in 2014, Griezmann has developed into a world class player for both club and country.
Why can’t Chelsea compete for Griezmann’s signature?
Despite Man United reportedly being in pole position for the player, there’s still every chance Griezmann could be a Blue next season.
Although Antonio Conte got the striker he wanted in Alvaro Morata in the summer, there are still signs he’s not content with the depth in this position.
Michy Batshuayi isn’t looking like a player the manager can trust. The Telegraph reported earlier this week that Christian Benteke is a target for the Blues.
But the thought of Morata and Griezmann being a possible strike partnership would be music to our ears.
Chelsea certainly have the funds to sign the player but it would all depend on our ambition to sign another great player.
