After Chelsea missed out on signing Real Madrid right-back Danilo to Premier League rivals Manchester City, Antonio Conte is now pursuing alternative options, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Standard report that Chelsea were not willing to pay Danilo’s £30.8M asking price, thus allowing Man City to swoop in and secure his signature.
The Blues do not appear to be spending anytime licking their wounds, and will instead look elsewhere in their efforts to strengthen at wing-back.
As per the Standard, Chelsea have not given up in their pursuit of Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, but that will not stop them looking elsewhere.
It is reported that Chelsea academy product Ryan Bertrand, who is currently employed by Southampton, is on the list of potential targets. His teammate, Cedric Soares, a right-back, is also an option for the Premier league champions.
Only time will tell if Chelsea will lodge a concrete offer to sign either of the Saints stars, or even make a breakthrough in negotiations to sign Sandro.
