Chelsea and Manchester United are set to lock horns in the race to sign Real Madrid superstar James Rodriguez, according to The Sun.
The Sun report that Rodriguez is likely to leave Los Blancos in the summer transfer window, having grown frustrated with his lack of first-team action in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
According to The Sun, his willingness to leave the Bernabeu has captured the attention of both Chelsea and Man United, who are believed to be preparing to go head-to-head to secure the Colombian’s signature.
The Sun cite Spanish outlet Marca in reporting that Real Madrid will not complicate either side’s pursuit of Rodriguez. Marca believe that the La Liga leaders have made it clear – stump up £63million and he’s yours.
It remains to be seen whether that’s a price that Antonio Conte is willing to pay. There doesn’t appear to be any dire need of reinforcements in attack, Rodriguez would very much be a luxury acquisition.
