Chelsea will refuse to sell hitman Diego Costa on the cheap this summer, according to the Times.
Costa had a stellar campaign for the Premier League champions, and his 20 goals in England’s top tier were influential in our success. He is widely considered one of the best strikers in the world, and will subsequently not be sold on the cheap.
The Times report that Chelsea will not entertain any offers under £60million for the Spanish international. The Times note that he was expected to seal a £76million move to Tianjin Quanjian this summer, but that move is now unlikely to materialise.
According to the Times, Chelsea are insistent that only an astronomical offer will convince them to part with Costa this summer. This is, as per the Times, due to Romelu Lukaku’s £100million price-tag, which could be funded by Costa’s sale.
It remains to be seen where Costa will be playing next season, but one thing’s for sure, it’s going to be an interesting summer.
