Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reported to be seeking a world-class striker desperately. The Italian has been wandering in the transfer market in a bid to sign a forward at Stamford Bridge.
With such observations, people might conclude that the current transfer market has not favoured is the needs of most clubs. However, with the Blues manager targeting a renowned striker at Swansea City, the move could signal the start of a domino effect, as sports lines for the 2017 Premier League matches take shape across Europe.
Since the former Italian national soccer team coach has had a frosty relationship with Diego Costa, he is now focused on signing at least one or two top-level center-forwards.
In the course of the 2016/17 EPL season, the Spaniard forward was linked to the Chinese Super League, but the news faded as the league came to a close.
Even though Costa helped Conte and the entire team to clinch the title, Conte informed the former Atletico Madrid player that he should consider moving to another club.
Consequently, while in Brazil, Costa has shown some allegiance to his former side by wearing their jersey as the curtain draws to close for him in West London.
Latest news reveal that the reigning English Premier League titleholders are interested in Gonzalo Higuain, with an 88million bid. Other similar names that have come up in their radar include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Andrea Belotti and Alvaro Morata.
Conte really wanted to sign Romelu Lukaku, and it appears the failure to bring the Belgian to Stamford Bridge frustrated him.
Even though the summer window is still in its early stages, the Italian has to gamble with picking a suitable forward from a list of the most wanted football players in Europe.
AC Milan has also showed their interest in Belotti and Morata, while Aubameyang decided to remain at Dortmund. In January, Conte hinted to bring Swansea’s Fernando Llorente to Stamford Bridge, and the former Juventus forward seems to continue haunting Conte to date.
However, Swansea seems to be uninterested with any club focusing on buying their top goal scorer last season. Maybe Conte can try next season when Llorente’s contract expires. However, according to the Telegraph report, Conte is a patient manager when it comes to recruitment, so perhaps, he can still have Llorente in the end as a back-up option.
And all that shifts the focus to Wilfried Bony. Swansea have the option of pursuing the big Ivorian if Llorente decides to leave the club this summer.
The former Swansea forward never accompanied his teammates for their pre-season tour to Houston. It seems Bony is not in the plans of Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
As Manchester City seeks to strengthen their offense, Alexis Sanchez is in their radar, but Arsenal seems uninterested as well. The constant factor here is that Bony is not in the picture anymore at Etihad.
Even though Lille had suggested to house Bony from next season on a loan deal, Guardiola is only keen to help the club clear his wages off by securing a permanent move for good financial returns.
The Chinese are also interested in the Ivorian, who only wants to develop his career in the Premier League for now, which strongly suggests a move to Swansea unless Chelsea ruthlessly snatches him in time.
