There has been a major development in Chelsea’s pursuit of AS Roma centre-forward centre-forward Edin Dzeko.
It was reported on Wednesday by the Guardian, that the Premier League champions had agreed a deal with AS Roma to sign Dzeko, along with teammate Emerson Palmieri. The pair would add much-needed squad depth to Antonio Conte’s thin squad.
However, despite the deal appearing to be close to completion, it now looks as though it has collapsed and Dzeko will not be moving to Stamford Bridge during this transfer window.
As per Sky Sports, Chelsea are unlikely to sign the Bosnian this month. During an update on their transfer centre, Sky Sports noted that AS Roma director Monchi was adamant no bids had been received for Dzeko that matched their valuation of the striker.
It looks as though we will have to look elsewhere in our pursuit of a target-man. The clock is ticking ever closer to the deadline – we need to act fast!
