Juventus have made contact with Chelsea over the possibility of signing club captain Gary Cahill, according to The Sun.
As The Sun report, Massimiliano Allegri is in dire need of reinforcements for his back-line following Leonardo Bonucci’s shock departure to Serie A rivals AC Milan. It looks as though Juve have identified Cahill as the Italian’s potential successor.
The Sun claim that Juventus have been alerted by the fact that Antonio Conte does not consider Gary Cahill a guaranteed starter in his defence.
Cahill was a cornerstone in Conte’s back-three last time around, but the arrivals of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have majorly increased competition for places at the back.
The Sun believe that Conte considers Cahill dispensable, and Juventus could be set to offer him an escape route. The tabloid note that the Turin side are keen to take him on loan, but would also be willing to pay as much as £16.5M in order to secure his services on a permanent basis.
