Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater is prepared to push through a summer move to Chelsea, according to the Mirror.

The Mirror believe that the Premier League champions’ interest in signing Drinkwater this summer is genuine. The tabloid note that Chelsea were keen to sign the Englishman last summer, as well as drafting in N’Golo Kante from the Foxes – but they were not prepared to part with both of them in one transfer window.

It is reported by the Mirror that Drinkwater would be open to moving to Stamford Bridge this summer, and is prepared to inform his current employers of his desire to move.

Chelsea could certainly do with a new face in the middle of the park following the departures of Nathaniel Chalobah and Nemanja Matic to Watford and Manchester United respectively. Only time will tell if Drinkwater, who started his career with United, will be the man to fill that void.

  1. He is being brought in as a backup to baka and kante. Moreover he has a great partnership with Ngolo in rhe middle of the pack. Again heis homegrown and has epl experience. And dont forget, Matic wanted to lleave. He turned down contract extension talks.

  2. Am having cold feet about our desire to sign him. I doubt he is d calibre of player we need. Come to think of it, is he really an upgrade on Matic???
