- Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could go out on loan next month with more than 10 clubs ready to sign the player.
The 20 year-old has been on the fringes of the first team since Antonio Conte took change this season and sometimes even struggled to make the bench. He needs to gain experience in order to aid his development and that’s not going to happen with him not playing.
Newcastle seem to be the front runners at the moment as well as a number of other Championship clubs who are said to be in the mix for the midfielder but the Blues are holding out for a top-flight suitor.
According to the North East Chronicle, Ruben plays in a position which Newcastle could use some cover in after Johnjo Shelvey got banned for 5 games and they have no obvious replacement.
A loan move could do Ruben the world of good. Fellow loan player Nathan Ake has performed at well at Bournemouth season and Tammy Abraham has been on fire for Bristol City in the Championship, scoring 11 goals already.
Loftus-Cheek is a regular for England at Under-21 level and he knows he needs regular game time to have any hope of breaking into the senior side.
Antonio Conte admitted this month he would be holding talks soon to decide Loftus-Cheek’s future at the club.
“I’m sure that Ruben has great potential,” Conte said.
“I think it’s important to show this, to improve a lot on different aspects. Now he’s in our squad. This season, he had a few injuries.”
“There will be a moment when I speak with my club and take the best decision, but I count on him because I think he has good potential.”
