Chelsea are prepared to meet Barcelona utility man Sergi Roberto’s release clause, according to Spanish journalist José Luis Carazo.
Roberto was formerly somewhat of a laughing stock at the Camp Nou, but last season he finally established himself as an important member in the Catalan giants’ squad.
The Spaniard scored the winning goal in Barcelona’s historic comeback against Paris-Saint Germain, which was very much the thumbnail moment of a stellar campaign for Roberto.
On the back of the fantastic season he enjoyed, it looks as though Premier League champions Chelsea are keen to draft him in this summer.
Journalist Jose Luis Carazo claimed on Twitter that Chelsea are interested in signing Roberto, and are even willing to pay his release clause in full, which currently stands at £35.8M.
Roberto can operate as a midfielder or at right-back. His versatility would certainly be of use to Antonio Conte. Only time will tell if we make a move to sign him.
