Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is once again exploring the possibility of signing Barcelona utility man Sergi Roberto after missing out on his top defensive transfer targets, according to ESPN.
As per ESPN, the Blues coach is desperately trying to bolster his defense ahead of the new season and Sergi Roberto is just one of the names currently on Conte’s list of targets.
Although Chelsea have signed Antonio Rudiger and recalled Andreas Christensen from loan, the Premier League champions are looking to sign a right wing-back, reports ESPN.
It’s reported that Conte has been frustrated by Chelsea’s inability to finalise a deal for a right wing-back this summer with Tottenham’s Kyle Walker and Real Madrid’s Danilo preferring moves to Premier League rivals Manchester City.
In light of these transfer failures, Conte looks to have identified Sergi Roberto as one of his new primary targets. However, ESPN report that the Blues will have to fork out £37.5 million in order to sign the 25-year-old.
