As we countdown to the beginning of 2018 and more importantly the beggining of the January transfer window, let’s take a look at three additions that could join Chelsea very soon.

The ups and downs of the club’s transfer activity in the summer have meant the board have a fair bit of work to do.

This isn’t helped by the 14 point lead Manchester City have over ourselves as we leaped Manchester United in the table on Saturday.

Antonio Conte has stressed the need for the squad to be bolstered since the beggining of the season.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at three potential players that could join us next month:

1Ross Barkley

On deadline day of the summer transfer window, not many would have predicted the fiasco surrounding Ross Barkley’s possible move to Chelsea.

The Blues had agreed a deal with Everton but the Englishman decided to stay put at the last minute. This was despite his intentions to stay at the Merseyside club.

Interest from Tottenham as well as struggles with a long-term knee injury but doubt into the mind of Barkley.

However, The Telegraph reported on Friday that the midfielder is close to completing his return to action and Chelsea have renewed interest in him.

Barkley’s deal at the Toffees does expire in the summer but it seems Conte wants to bring him to the club ready for the rest of the season.

The most talked about name in the Chelsea rumour mill has to be Alex Sandro.

Most recently, Italians newspaper Tuttosport reported that Juventus would be willing to lower their asking price to £53.3m.

In August, The Express reported a £73m bid for Sandro from Chelsea, which got turned down by the Serie A club.

Left-wing-back Marcos Alonso has had little competition as he’s made that position his own this season.

Signing Sandro would be a statement of intent for Antonio Conte’s side and a move could well happen.

3Riyad Mahrez

The last time a move for Mahrez to Chelsea was mentioned back in October by The Metro, so rumours have dried up.

However, there’s still a genuine possibility of signing the talented Algerian.

The winger has previously expressed his feelings of wanting to leave Leicester City. Even ex-Foxes manager Craig Shakespeare confirmed that player’s desire to join a top six club in England, The Mail reported.

Mahrez didn’t get the move he wanted but he’s still putting in stellar performances at the club.

If Chelsea were to come in with an offer of around £30m, that may be enough to sign the 26-year-old.
