Chelsea fans are a lot happier this season compared to last as their team sits at the top of the EPL and have won their last seven matches in a row.
Antonio Conte has turned around a team which was divided along with not having the drive and determination required to be successful in the Premier League into genuine contenders.
The Blues managed to prove their credentials in their last game against Spurs who were unbeaten in the League before they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They are now the joint favourites with Manchester City with many online betting sites to be crowned champions.
It makes the match between the two this coming weekend an extremely important fixture as the winners will put themselves in an excellent place heading into the new year.
With the January transfer window quickly approaching and Chelsea top of the league, Roman Abramovich will give Antonio Conte with an open cheque book. The new Italian manager has yet to put his full stamp on the squad and now that he has had six months assessing the players he will know exactly the ones that meet his demands and criteria.
Chelsea Transfer Rumours
One of Chelsea’s main transfer targets over the Summer window was Radja Nainggolan who plays in midfield for Italian club Roma. They were unable to agree on a deal but it is rumoured that they will go back in for the player when the transfer market opens once again. They have a good chance of sealing a deal for the Belgian this time around due to contract negotiations stalling with Roma.
Chelsea has looked for a replacement for Blues legend John Terry for the last couple of season with little success. It is no secret that their main target is Juventus star man Leonardo Bonucci. If they are unable to reach a deal for him they will turn their attention to either Alessio Romagnoli from AC Milan or Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
Chelsea’s rise to the top of the EPL has been largely down to both Eden Hazard and Diego Costa finding their form that brought the title to Stamford Bridge. If either or both players pick up a serious injury it could heavily impact their chances of reclaiming the title. That is why the Blues are closely keeping tabs on Javier Pastore who now plays for PSG.
Chelsea January Transfer Window Exits?
One player almost certain to leave during the January transfer window is Cesc Fabregas. He is a player that Conte does not like and most of the time he does not even make the squad. The Spanish midfielder will not be short on offers so it is likely a deal will go ahead.
Oscar has also fallen down the rankings with Conte and over the last few weeks he has hardly touch a ball. It is rumoured that Inter Milan are interested in him and are preparing a bid for January.
John Terry even though he is not the first choice defender has stated he is happy as the team is winning and has no plans to move to a different club. The most likely defender to be transferred is Branislav Ivanovic who has been surplus to requirements this campaign. The Blues will only sell him though if they are able to find a world-class replacement.
