Chelsea and Manchester United are the firm favourites with the bookmakers to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho this summer.
Sancho has developed into one of the hottest properties in world football since joining Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017 having failed to make the breakthrough under Pep Guardiola.
The 21-year-old is enjoying an excellent campaign after providing 20 goals and 20 assists in 43 games in all competitions so far, which eclipses the 13 goals and 19 assists he got in the same number of appearances last season.
Sancho is destined to become a star at club level and is already a regular with the senior England international team so it’s no surprise he’s attracting interest from several top clubs throughout Europe.
Chelsea and United favourites
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have all been linked with Sancho in recent months but the winger has indicated he wants to return to England when he leaves Dortmund and two Premier League giants are the clear favourites to sign him.
Man Utd have opened talks about taking Sancho to Old Trafford and are currently the 3/5 favourites to sign the youngster. However, Chelsea will provide stiff competition with the bookmakers pricing the Blues as 4/1 second favourites to land the talented attacker this summer.
Those odds are tempting considering how active Frank Lampard has already been and it’s certainly worth a punt if you think Chelsea will continue their aggressive moves in the transfer market and go all-out for Sancho. Although remember to only bet what you can afford to lose and you can learn how to self-exclude yourself from betting sites if you feel you’re developing a problem.
Chelsea have already snapped-up Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig for big money so they clearly mean business this summer. With Pedro and Willian both expected to leave when their contracts expire next month, Lampard could do with another winger and Sancho would be an excellent addition.
The England international would fit the profile of player Lampard wants as the former midfielder is keen to build a young squad that can develop together and Sancho would feel right at home alongside the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Ruden Loftus-Cheek in west London.
A deal won’t come cheap as reports suggest Dortmund want around £117m for Sancho’s signature but Chelsea have the money to compete with the likes of Manchester United so it’s going to be interesting to see where he ends this summer.
