Antonio Conte confirms Chelsea attacker is ready to start against Burnley

New signing Alvaro Morata could start for Chelsea against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday as Antonio Conte spoke with Sky Sports ahead of the opening day of the season.

Morata had to settle for a place on the bench during the club’s first competitive game of the new season at Wembley as Michy Batshuayi was given the nod ahead of the Spain international.

However, speaking to Sky Sports journalist David Jones, Chelsea’s Italian manager revealed that Alvaro Morata is ready to start against Burnley on Saturday as the London club begin the defence of their title.

When asked if Chelsea’s new striker would be ready to face Burnley at Stamford Bridge of Saturday, Conte replied: “He is working very well, he is improving a lot his physical condition, and he is starting to understand our football, our idea of football. He could be an option, a possibility to start on Saturday.”

The news that Alvaro Morata will be available for selection on Saturday will please many Chelsea fans who will be worried about the size of the club’s current squad. At the minute, the Blues only have two available strikers within their ranks.
