Perhaps the last thing you would expect to encounter when visiting the ‘Loan Watch’ category of our website is a goal from a player who actually isn’t on-loan from Chelsea.

However, with all of the younger players that we have sold with cheap buy-back options, there remains a chance that they could be part of our club’s future, so we insist on keeping an eye on them all, Boga included (per Nizaar Kinsella)!

Boga was once considered our academy’s brightest talent. If not for Gary Cahill’s red card on the opening day of the 2017/18 season, things could have been a lot different for the now 22-year-old.

He has been led down the Gael Kakuta career path, which is definitely not a positive thing, but Boga is still giving Chelsea something to think about. He opened his account for Serie A side Sassuolo against Sampdoria on Saturday afternoon.

One goal is not going to convince our club’s hierarchy that he’s worth bringing back as part of the squad, but Boga has the talent if he ever is able to harness it. It would be naive to rule him off prematurely.
