The news that Todd Boehly has sold his Chelsea shares to Clearlake Capital, giving them 100% control of the club, has prompted some big picture articles about the direction of the club now.
The new stadium is the elephant in the room, but Matt Law has written about another aspect of the big picture – updating Cobham.
Chelsea lining up training ground works
“I mean it’s going to expand, they bought land across the road from Cobham and would be able to extend the site,” Law said on the London is Blue podcast.
“It’s not like it’s really old fashioned, but when you compare it to some modern training grounds now it needs a bit of modernising for sure.
“It looks like it’s going to be all systems go on that front. There has been talk that there would be a training ground sponsor. Which I think would definitely would be a good idea. Lots of training grounds now are sponsored and it seems like a legitimate form of revenue.
“I think they have the planning permission, so that will happen and that will be a positive, which is needed.”
