Xabi Alonso has finally given us a little more detail on Moises Caicedo’s injury which seems to have Chelsea’s season hinging on it.

The latter part of press conferences have an embargoed section which usually doesn’t contain anything too spicy, but this week reporters at Xabi Alonso’s pressers got some more detail out of the coach about the big news issue eight now – Moises Caicedo’s injury.
The new manager has been remarkably adept at revealing the bare minimum in his answers so far – but finally we got a little more from him about the problem.
Alonso adds more detail on Caicedo injury

“He has a problem in his calf,” explained Alonso.
“It was the same that he had before Brighton. I wanted to have Moi [back]. Probably it was my mistake to push him too early, so that’s why I’m cautious now not to make the same mistake.”
It’s a shame – bringing Caicedo on for that short spell against Brighton seemed to aggravate the injury, and he’s
Alonso had said earlier in the presser that he would consider the midfielder for the game against Hull this weekend – but we still suspect the club will play it safe and try to do without him for another week.

Alonso also gave some comfort to Estevao, who will have been disappointed by the number of Premier League minutes he’s had so far this season.
Chelsea will be without Moises Caicedo tomorrow night thanks to his injury – Alonso gave an update on when we will know more about his midfielder’s issue.
