Chelsea’s £75m combined asking price for two unwanted strikers

Chelsea are going to have to lower their striker asking prices significantly, if they want to shift them this summer.

The news came out today that it’s been decided that Emmanuel Emegha will be part of Chelsea’s first team squad for the season ahead.

That’s good for him, as he will be backing up Joao Pedro. But it’s bad news for Liam Delap and Marc Guiu. There aren’t enough minutes to go around to carry a third striker in the squad. Both are up for sale, but it’s worryingly quiet for this late in the window.

Guiu and Delap priced out of moves

The Athletic’s Deal Sheet says that Chelsea “want over £50m for Delap”, and that “multiple Premier League clubs are keen,” although Simon Johnson wisely puts in doubt whether “they are prepared to pay that price.”

Marc Guiu’s fee, on the other hand, is set at £25m. That’s perhaps equally ambitious.

In other news…

The deadline for Man City’s bid for Enzo Fernandez has long passed – and Chelsea could even increase his asking price.

One player who will be sticking around is Emmanuel Emegha – the decision has been made that he will be part of the first team squad this season.

As well as big transfer news, this week also saw big ownership news, with an exclusive from the FT claiming that Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are looking at selling their stakes in Chelsea.
