The transfer window is closed, but Chelsea have just announced a new signing.
Well, it depends on your definition of new, really. The reports that Denner was going to sign were confirmed a long time ago, it’s just taken a while to get him to England.
He’s now 18 and the club’s official website have announced his arrival. The left footer impressed at the prestigious Copinha youth tournament in his native Brazil, and that persuaded the Blues to sign him up a year ago.
Brazilian finally gets the chance to make a name for himself

Denner has already become a big of a running joke among Chelsea fans as a player who “doesn’t really exist.” He was a pretty obscure prospect before he signed, and nothing has been heard of him since – until now.
It looks like his next step is playing in the youth teams at Cobham – we will see if that helps him make more of an impression. We really have no idea what to expect from the wing back, who we’ve reportedly paid €10m for. It’s genuinely quite hard to find out when the last time he played was – he seems to have been featuring for the Corinthians U20 team most recently.

Man City ended up buying one high priced Chelsea player – it could have been three if things had gone a different way.
