There are new names being mentioned all the time in connection with Chelsea as the Blues go into another summer where they’re expected to be busy.

That’s especially true with the World Cup on – new players are going to get mentions all the time after breakout displays for their countries.

People who have been paying attention in the Premier League already know Yasin Ayari. The 22 year old was excellent for Brighton, making 29 Premier League appearances last season and helping the Seagulls to qualify for Europe.

It’s no wonder they’ve offered him a new contract – and no wonder that Chelsea and Newcastle (amongst others) are trying to sign him. TeamTalk claim both teams have joined a long list of European sides trying to persuade the Sweden star to rejected Brighton and make a move this summer.

If he keeps playing like he did in his country’s 5-1 opening round win over Iraq, his asking price is going to shoot up. That’s especially true if he is eventually tied down to a long term deal.

In other news…

Chelsea sold Real Madrid a full back this summer – now it seems like the Spanish club could return the favour.

We now know how the Blues will start this season with the fixtures having been released – it’s good news for Xabi Alonso.
