Chelsea have just announce the signing of left back Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
After a surprisingly drawn out negotiation which has taken more than a month, the Blues finally have their man. The 28 year old will come in to compete with Jorrel Hato on our left side. Reports claim that the final fee we paid is €19m, with a potential further €2m in add ons.
Chavarria appears to be a player specifically requested by Xabi Alonso, and is another important part of this summer’s attempts to shape the squad to the new manager’s wishes.
Young defender “so excited” to get started at Chelsea

“I’m so excited to get started. This is a dream for me as Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a big opportunity but I am prepared and will work hard to help the team achieve success,” the Spaniard said on the club’s official website.
“There are a lot of people who have helped me get to this moment and I have to thank my family. They have always supported me and today is only possible because of them.”
Having worked his way up from the Spanish third tier, Chavarria has had a very different career path to many of our players.
