Chelsea are about to play Brighton in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, but having three games this week hasn’t slowed them down in terms of transfers.
They’ve even added a new player this morning. Emi Martinez has signed from Aston Villa for a sum believed to be below £10m.
He steps into the team instantly as first choice. Robert Sanchez is left out entirely, and will presumably be sold or loaned in the next 48 hours if possible.
Chelsea get their top goalkeeper at last

Chelsea fans have never been happy with Sanchez, and will be delighted by this addition. Even just the boost it gives us this season is massive. It seems Alonso saw one game of Sanchez in the Premier League (his mistake got Fulham back into the game last week) and decided he had had enough.
Martinez may be past his best, but he’s still a better goalkeeper than Sanchez. Perhaps more importantly, he’s a big character and won’t collapse the team’s morale when he makes a mistake like Sanchez does.
In other news…
Chelsea’s team for today’s game is out, and it’s got some interesting selections from Xabi Alonso.
Mykhailo Mudryk is going to be loaned out in the next few days – the question is still where he will go, however.
