Chelsea ended their summer with a crazy story, but the window as a whole seemed pretty well laid out compared to some.

While Chelsea’s transfer window ended with a chaotic situation around midfielder Lamine Camara, the rest of it was pretty serene by recent standards.
There was a lot of business to do, of course, but it felt like everything was under control, and the squad got stronger through the summer. One person who would know better about that than most is Matt Law, the Daily Telegraph’s Chelsea correspondent. He was on the London is Blue podcast this week, where he had the same take.
“The last 24 hours particularly have been crazy around Chelsea… but you know what? I haven’t found it too mental around Chelsea this time. I’ve felt there’s been slightly more structure around this transfer window than maybe past transfer windows with Chelsea, certainly in this ownership.
“I think, like as a broad overview, I think they’ve come out of it an awful, awful lot stronger than they went into it, despite the the drama of the last 24 hours of deadline day. So in whole, I think they’ll be very pleased.”
Chelsea put together a strong team with one big flaw
They sold well. They brought in good starters. They found what look like good loans for young players. They brought in experienced veterans. They did a lot of business early. Everything went so smoothly – until that last day hiccup left them a midfielder short.
With a bit of luck they can still survive that – but it will all depend on how fit the starters can stay.
