There aren’t many goalkeeping coaches who make a big name for themselves, but Cristophe Lollichon was certainly one of them in his long spell at Chelsea.
He worked with Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois, and also helped the club scouting goalkeepers after that. A long interview with the Athletic this week got his opinions on the next potential star in nets for the Blues.
Chelsea youngster has “very good potential” says top coach

“He has very good potential,” Lollichon said about rising star Mike Penders, who is coming to Chelsea this summer after a year on loan at Strasbourg.
“He’s another guy from the Belgium school, like Courtois, like Koen Casteels. I spoke with Penders when Dunkirk played Strasbourg in the French Cup. I liked the conversation we had.
“He’s very clever. I saw a mature goalkeeper. He has to improve with his feet, but at 20 years old, he’s very good. He has good positioning, he’s proactive and he wants to learn.”
That matches up pretty well with If only we still had Lollichon at the club to help develop him…
In other news…
Chelsea are apparently “obsessed” with one Premier League star they’ve wanted for a while, but we’re not sure he’s worth the monster asking price.
Thomas Tuchel gave his green light to a new Chelsea target way back in 2021, according to another report from Simon.
