Marc Cucurella’s departure from Chelsea is the big transfer news of the summer so far, and the full back has been speaking about that move for the first time this week:
“If you had asked me a few months ago, I probably would have said I don’t expect to leave Chelsea,” the defender said on media duties while with Spain.
“I was very happy there and so was my family. It isn’t easy leaving Chelsea. I arrived as a young kid, I dreamed of winning trophies and Chelsea gave me that, but I think the step to go to Real Madrid now is bigger.”
Chelsea struggle to compete with Spanish giants
Well, we can’t deny that a move to Real Madrid is a tempting one, especially for a Spaniard. Chelsea struggled to compete with Los Blancos for players at the best of times – now they’re in the Champions League and we’re not, we don’t have much hope.
We could yet lose another player to the Spanish giants this summer as they look to poach our best.
In other news…
Another important milestone has been reached in the Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid transfer saga has been reached, and it involves Jose Mourinho.
While Chelsea dither, sister club Strasbourg have already made moves. They signed up Benjamin Brantlid from Goteborg according to Fabrizio Romano.
