Kieran Gill’s Daily Mail piece today has some interesting insight on where Chelsea stand in their pursuit of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott.
It’s an open secret that the Blues (along with a number of top clubs) are chasing the rising star, who just got his first England cap. But what chance do they have of landing him? Not much, at least in January.
Chelsea will have to be patient over Scott
Gill writes that Bournemouth “do not intend on selling their star midfielder in January,” and that they are not going to even enter into negotiations until they have “established themselves in the Premier League once again this season.”
It seems like they know he’s going to go eventually, but they won’t sell until next summer, meaning they won’t enter into serious negotiations until after January. Chelsea now need to decide if they will bring in a short term solution in the winter window, or if they’re comfortable using what they have until they can sign Scott.
The two teams face each other next weekend when the Premier League returns.
