Chelsea have made a poor start to the season defensively, and that is leading to a number of rumours about defenders we want to sign.
Mark Brus’ Daily Briefing has today claimed that Man City defender Abdukodir Khusanov, is now a player the Blues are after.
Sources have told him that even a January bid could be on the cards for the 22 year old, whom they see as a “great fit” for their system.
Chelsea still some way off realistic Khusanov bid
This doesn’t add up to us. Khusanov is doing well at Man City, and they’re very unlikely to even consider selling him to Chelsea.
If, in a year or so, he is stuck on the bench every week, we can see a move happening. But right now he is clearly happy there and playing an important role. Why would he give that up to come to basket case Chelsea?
For all his qualities, he’s still pretty raw and is not the right player to upgrade our back line in terms of communication and leadership anyway. It’s one to look at for the future, but January simply isn’t realistic.
