Our writer Simon Phillips had a well deserved week off last week – but he’s now back with a bang.
His sources have been telling him some very interesting things about Chelsea’s transfer plans for the summer, including a potential move for Malo Gusto. The France right back is not considered “untouchable” at Stamford Bridge, so is available despite being a regular.
Gusto has suitors – but Chelsea’s demands make Inter deal difficult
Phillips reports on his Substack today that Gusto is a target for Inter Milan this summer after the Italian side saw Denzel Dumfries leave to join Real Madrid.
Gusto is just “one of a selection of names” that Inter are looking at, while there are a “number of other clubs” seatching for a right back who could make an offer.
Phillips, for his part, doubts that an offer good enough for Chelsea to accept would come from Milan. We’re inclined to agree – we’d imagine Chelsea won’t take less than something close to €40m for the France international, and Serie A teams aren’t throwing that sort of money around for right backs.
In other news…
Phillips also reported on the interesting suggestion that Kieran McKenna could try to sign Liam Delap if the coach is appointed at Fulham.
One pundit suggested Chelsea sign Jeremie Frimpong from Liverpool to reunite him with Xabi Alonso.
