Liam Delap has only been at Chelsea for a year, but there’s a strong sense that they would love to sell him already. There may be a chance to do so this summer.
If the striker’s coach from his Ipswich days, Kieran McKenna, moves to Fulham, there are rumours he could try to reunite with his former player.
Our writer Simon Phillips claims that, should McKenna move to Fulham, he will try to sign up Delap for his new team.
“McKenna is believed to still have a lot of belief in Delap and has always rated him,” Phillips wrote.
Delap to Fulham starting to make sense
This isn’t a new story, but it’s great to have it confirmed by Simon. There are still a lot of moving parts, of course. McKenna has to take the Fulham job, then persuade them that Delap is the right target.
But given they’ve just let Raul Jimenez leave on a free transfer, and could sell a few others following the departure of Marco Silva, things are lining up for this to be at least a possibility. Chelsea would love to make a small profit on the £30m they paid.
