Every summer Chelsea’s most promising youngsters are sent out on loan, in moves which have huge consequences for their careers as they take their first steps in the senior game.

The last few years there have been some pretty shocking decisions made – but this year looks much more promising. One that looked like it was going to be a big hit was Dastan Satpayev moving to Burnley.

He got into their team right away, and was making himself very popular with his performances despite some bad results for the Clarets. But he limped off late in the game against Middlesbrough a week ago holding his hamstring and hasn’t been seen since.

Satpayev’s Cobham return is worrying sign

Dastan Satpayev signs for Burnley.

The latest news is that the striker has returned to Chelsea for treatment. The loan move hasn’t been cancelled, and we can still expect him to play there once he’s fit, but it’s a bad sign that the injury is serious enough that it’s worth sending him back to Cobham.

We hope for a more detailed update on the problem’s severity soon.

In other news…

Chelsea had been linked with interest in Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi, and that could be revived come January according to some.

Xabi Alonso’s press conference yesterday saw him confirm that Chelsea had considered an emergency option for their midfield situation.

Caicedo’s injury is what is stretching our midfield depth right now, and we did at least get some detail on his problem from Alonso in the same presser.
