Chelsea’s team for today’s game against Brighton is out, and it’s full of interesting things.
The first thing you’ll notice is in goal. Emi Martinez was just a vague transfer rumour a couple of days ago. Now he’s Chelsea’s starting keeper. Robert Sanchez is out of the squad entirely.
At the back, Wesley Fofana returns from suspension to join the back line alongside Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill.
At wing back, it looks like Pedro Neto and Jorrel Hato.
There’s no Reece James after he started in midweek. He’s benched, with Malo Gusto appearing to be in a double pivot with Romeo Lavia. Moises Caicedo is almost back – but he’s only fit enough for the bench.

Chelsea’s interesting team ready to take on Brighton
In attack, it’s the new standard first choice front three of Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer.
It’s an interesting side – we’re not sure why you’d start Gusto in midfield over Valentin Barco, who did well in midweek. It will be really interesting to see how things actually line up on the pitch
In other news…
Mykhailo Mudryk is going to be loaned out in the next few days – the question is still where he will go, however.
Chelsea are closing in on a midfield replacement for Enzo Fernandez – a deal for Lamine Camara is advancing.
Xabi Alonso played Cole Palmer for 90 minutes against Luton Town this week, which surprised a lot of people.
