A number of young talent have made a big impression for Chelsea in the first three friendlies of preseason – but none of them got as much buzz as Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli did on Wednesday when he started against Juventus.
The 16 year old looked sensational, and it’s no surprise that the club’s official website wanted a word with him.
Young talent on full circle moment
“[The experience of being on tour] has been top, and I feel like, coming back to my home country, it’s just a proud moment,” Nicoll-Jazuli said, referring to the initial trip to Sydney where he was born and where he played his first minutes for the senior team in the friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers two weeks ago.
“It’s important obviously to have my family there, they’ve done everything for me. I’m so grateful for them. So being able to see me make my debut, obviously they’re very proud and I’m very grateful.”
MNJ is probably too young for a loan this season, so he will get to develop further in the youth team at Stamford Bridge, while also likely getting lots of training time with Xabi Alonso and the first team.

With the first phase of preseason over, it’s time for Chelsea to sort out some loans for their best young talents, and there are two at the top of the list right now.
There’s a slim chance Chelsea sign yet another defender this month, although it will take multiple outgoing players according to Ben Jacobs.
