Andreas Christensen has been one of Chelsea’s most underrated stand-out performers ever since Tuchel’s reign began.
On Thursday night in Anfield, the Dane put in a decisive display that won praise from far and beyond but more importantly from his boss Thomas Tuchel.
Speaking after the Liverpool match, in quotes picked up by chelseafc.com, Tuchel pointed how he watched Christensen impressively replace the injured Silva against Tottenham last month. The Brazilian was forced off prematurely due to his current injury.
“Andreas stepped in during the middle of the first half versus Tottenham which was a tough thing to do, and from the first minute he was absolutely impressive,” he said.
Tuchel further added:
“He is brave, strong in individual challenges and very brave and intelligent in our build-up and plays with a lot of confidence. I’m absolutely happy with his performance. How he has stepped up is a big part of our performances.”
Christensen won 100% of the aerial duels and completed a 91.5% passing accuracy (whoscored.com) during his 90 minutes at Anfield.
