Antonio Conte has defended Andreas Christensen as Barcelona currently lead our Champions League tie with the Catalans, Sky Sports reports.
Christensen, who has been an integral part of Conte’s team this season made his first big mistake since becoming a Chelsea regular.
A risky pass from the Dane was punished as Andreas Iniesta and Lionel Messi combined to give the La Liga side an away goal.
When speaking after the match, Conte spoke of Christensen’s display in the match and the potential he possesses, as Sky Sports reports.
Conte is quoted by Sky Sports saying:
“I think Christensen’s performance was a very good performance, an incredible performance. We are talking about a player who is only 21 years old here.”
The progression of the centre-back has been one of few shining lights for Chelsea in a turbulent season.
With the mentality Christensen has at a young age, this mistake shouldn’t affect his performances in the near-future.
