Cesc Fabregas and Charly Musonda both said their goodbyes to Antonio Conte on social media – before the club officially announced his departure.
Conte’s exit was the worst kept secret in football. It has been clear for some time that his position at the helm was untenable. Perhaps only Conte himself, in his defiant ignorance, believed that he had any chance of staying on.
His players will also have been aware of the likelihood they’d be playing under a new manager next season. That belief was confirmed to be true on Thursday morning as Chelsea officially announce Conte’s sacking.
Fabregas and Musonda jumped the gun. Before the club confirmed that Conte had left, they were already saying their goodbyes to their manager on Twitter and Instagram respectively. Cesar Azpilicueta later posted his tribute.
Here’s how the trio reacted to new breaking that Conte was no longer going to be in charge of Chelsea. We can only hope Cesc and Charly already had an email land in their inbox, rather than assuming the word of the media to be true.
Cesc Fabregas
Thank you Mister for another Premier League title and FA Cup. It wasn’t easy for me to convince you in the beginning but in the end I hope I did you proud! Good luck for the future. #CFC

Charly Musonda
Translation: “Thank you for all Mister, for teaching me so much, always treating me like a son and educating myself as a man, thank you for giving me the chance to play at Stamford Bridge, I will always be grateful to you, I have yet to meet a man so charismatic and dedicated to football like you.”
Cesar Azpilicueta
Thank you mister for the trophies we have won together and your confidence in the last 2 seasons. I wish you all the best in the future. #GrazieAntonio #CFC pic.twitter.com/WTZXPxv1XR
