Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is unhappy with the club’s board, according to the Daily Star.
Conte took the reins at a club that was battered and beaten, and swiftly took them back to the top of the Premier League. You may think that the Italian’s stellar work with the Blues during a stellar debut season at Stamford Bridge would earn him the trust of the club’s hierarchy, but that does not seem to be the case.
As per the Star, Conte was interested in signing Italy international Andrea Belotti from Torino, but club owner Roman Abramovich had other ideas.
The tabloid believe that Abramovich trusted the judgement of technical director Michael Emenalo over Conte’s, and subsequently looked to re-sign former striker Romelu Lukaku from Premier League counterparts Everton.
The Daily Star believe that neither of Alex Sandro or Willy Cabellero were on Conte’s transfer wish-list, and the club’s hesitancy to pursue his targets is behind his reluctance to sign a new contract.
It seems unlikely that we have heard the last of this…
