Ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final, Cesc Fabregas has discussed his affection for former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who (as you well know) is now in charge of Saturday’s opponents Manchester United.
It was Mourinho who brought Fabregas to these lands back in the summer of 2014. It was a rumour that was circulating for a number of weeks, but few of us believed it true. That was until he was pictured wearing the shirt in a hotel room.
Four-years on and Fabregas is a two-time Premier League winner. His long-term future may be in doubt with the time remaining on his contract running low, but this season proved that he can still have an important role to play in the squad.
Fabregas has not forgotten what Mourinho did for him in bringing him to Chelsea. It’s the best thing that could possibly happen to any player, and Cesc’s been lucky enough to experience it to it’s full potential.
The Spaniard is quoted by Sky Sports saying:
“I love him, I always say that. I owe him a lot because he brought me here, I will always remember that.”
“My first year here, (former Arsenal manager) Arsene (Wenger) had always treated me like a son. But the closest anyone has been to him was Jose.
“The way he treated me, the way he made me feel, how he let me be a leader of the team from day one. This was fantastic and, in all the four years since I joined Chelsea now, they will always stay with me.
“This experience is thanks to him.”
Well said, Cesc!
