It’s still only September – wind back to the start of this month and the summer transfer window was still open.
But the long international break is leading to more transfer chatter than usual at this time of year, and there’s a juicy new rumour on the agenda today.
TeamTalk say that the Blues are interested in Como midfielder Lucas De Cunha, who made his France bow in Monday night’s game against Belgium. The midfielder is part of Cesc Fabregas’s Como success story, and has recently signed a new long term contract to stay part of their project.
Playmaker an option for Chelsea in deeper role
Da Cunha has been used in a deep-lying role by Fabregas, and it’s there that Chelsea want to see him play.
“Chelsea remain particularly attentive to Da Cunha’s development as they continue to plan for the future, with the club understood to be firmly in the market for a midfielder in 2027,” Graeme Bailey wrote.
It’s easy to see how he could work as a partner to Moises Caicedo – although many fans would like to see a more dynamic, physical presence added to our midfield.
