Chelsea have just been beaten 2-1 by Arsenal, a disappointing result given the Blues took the lead.
There was a lot to like in the game, but Xabi Alonso’s team just couldn’t get control of the match in midfield. Arsenal’s goals saw his team cut through far too easily.
If there was one player who could have made a difference it was Moises Caicedo. The midfielder has been out injured for a while, and his return as a sub last week ended in disaster when he was then subbed off just 11 minutes later, clearly in pain again.
Alonso admits Chelsea may have rushed Caicedo back

Alonso doesn’t want to give anything away about how bad the Ecuador star’s issues are, but fans are desperate to know whether they can count on him coming back.
Alonso was coy once again in his post match press conference today:
“No, not longer term [injury], but it’s about assessing the risk,” the new Chelsea manager said.
“Probably last week we took him too early and I don’t want to make the same mistake again.”
With Caicedo fit, Chelsea have plenty of options to line up alongside him. While he’s out injured, we look really lacking in bite in the middle.
In other news…
Chelsea needed midfield control off the bench today and the best they could muster was Malo Gusto. This could be the start of a bigger problem for the Blues.
Xabi Alonso admitted today that his team had let themselves with one moment today which ultimately cost his team dearly.
