Antonio Rudiger has taken to Twitter to confirm he has withdrawn from Germany’s national squad after suffering a groin injury.
Rudiger has been one of our best performers this term. A slow starter having signed from AS Roma, he improved drastically after the turn of the year and is still riding an upward gradient.
The German has been a cornerstone in Maurizio Sarri’s defence so far this term, which is why it’s such a blow that he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
After news broke that Rudiger had withdrawn from international duty, he took to Twitter to clarify why he would be not be representing his country this international break.
I won’t be available for the @dfb_team for the upcoming 2 matches due to a groin problem. I will do some individual training sessions during the int. break and I’m confident to be back soon👊🏾 Best of luck to my German teammates for the next 2 games 🇩🇪🙏🏾 #Hustle #AlwaysBelieve

Rudiger himself appears confident that the injury is nothing too serious. It would be a huge blow if he were to miss the clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Let’s hope he’s fit and available for Jose Mourinho’s day of reckoning…
