Chelsea fans point the finger at one man after Alexandre Lacazette’s opening goal

Chelsea fans pointed the finger at one man in particular after Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal the lead at the Emirates this evening, and there’s no prizes for guessing who.

Alexandre Lacazette proved that having a world-class striker through the middle really does make all the difference. After some smart footwork in the Chelsea penalty area, he shifted the ball onto his right-foot and fired home emphatically into the back of Kepa’s net.

Though the main reason that we conceded the goal was as a result of Lacazette’s brilliance, it was poor defending from the Blues, and from one man in particular – Marcos Alonso. He didn’t do enough to deny the Frenchman engineering himself space to shoot.

Alonso is your classic example of a failed winger who was converted to a wing-back. He’s now being used as an archetypal full-back Maurizio Sarri, which isn’t working, seeing as he struggles in the defensive phase (and proved it once again this evening).

Chelsea fans, who don’t need an excuse to criticise Alonso at the best of times, took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at another showing of the Spaniard’s flimsy defensive ability. Here’s how a handful of them reacted to the incident. Is this harsh, Blues?
