Chelsea made several signings last week, some of them pretty unexpected, but the biggest and most shocking news was the return of Mykhailo Mudryk.
The winger was nearly two years into his doping ban, which was expected to last for another two. But a settlement on appeal has allowed him to play immediately, and he’s already joined up with Xabi Alonso’s squad in Hong Kong.
He will train with the main group for now, and may even feature in some friendlies. But it seems pretty clear that he won’t be spending this season at Chelsea. Mudryk was struggling even before he spent 18 months away from playing and unable to even train with teammates. It’s expected he will need some time to find his feet again, even playing regularly. And given Chelsea have just one game a week this year, he’s not going to be playing regularly.
Chelsea receive six loan offers for Mudryk in space of days
A loan is clearly the right move, and according to Jack Rosser of the Sun, there will be no shortage of options. Chelsea have been “inundated with enquiries” for the winger. Three Premier League clubs (including Coventry) and three clubs from Europe have been in contact.
