The BBC reported at the time of the transfer that Chelsea parted with £40M to secure the services of Tiemoue Bakayoko from AS Monaco over the summer.

It’s safe to say that he is yet to justify that heavily inflated price-tag.

Bakayoko has been, as much as it pains us to say it, one of the flops of the season. Despite playing alongside one of the best midfielders on the planet in N’Golo Kante, the Frenchman has continually left us exposed – and subsequently been exposed himself.

As The Sun reported on Saturday, Bakayoko has been ruled out of our upcoming Champions League tie with Barcelona. The prospect of him facing up against Barca’s star-studded midfield was not one we were particularly looking forward to, anyway.

It seems as though the majority of the Chelsea faithful were dreading it, and many took to Twitter in wake of the news to celebrate Bakayoko’s absence. Things don’t look as though they’ll be getting any easier for the 23-year-old.
