Chelsea likely XI vs. BATE Borisov: Maurizio Sarri to hand player 12th consecutive start

Maurizio Sarri

Chelsea lock horns with BATE Borisov in Belarus tomorrow evening, and we reckon Maurizio Sarri’s going to make wholesale changes once again.

Sarri has not hesitated to rotate his side during cup competitions, even if little tinkering has been done to his starting eleven in the Premier League.

Considering the quality of our group, all due respect to our opponents, the Europa League does provide a great opportunity for us to shuffle our pack.

Chelsea’s fringe players will get an opportunity to shine once again on Thursday night, which will do wonders in terms of keeping heads high within the camp.

Eden Hazard has travelled to Belarus to be part of the squad for the game. It does appear rather unnecessary considering he has just come back from injury. We deem it unlikely that he’ll start from the beginning.

Willian has started 11 consecutive games in all competitions, and considering the shape that Hazard’s in, he may be forced to make it twelve against BATE.

We expect changes at the back as Sarri rests his defence, with our midfield being given a shake-up to allow Ruben Loftus-Cheek to start for the second Europa League game running.

Here’s our predicted lineup in full. What do you think, Blues?
