Nizaar Kinsella did a Q and A for the BBC today where he was asked where he saw the standing of 16 year old super talent Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli. The young midfielder played in preseason and already has senior minutes this season.
The idea that he’s going to be a serious option in midfield for the rest of the season is fanciful however, as Kinsella points out.
Chelsea not looking at MNJ as immediate solution
“I know Chelsea regard Nicoll-Jazuli as a top-tier talent and are excited that he has committed to signing his first professional contract when he turns 17, despite attempts by several major clubs to lure him away,” Kinsella wrote.
“Unfortunately, I do not think he is the solution to this particular problem. Caicedo’s return will tell us a lot about whether this squad is fit for purpose.”
If anything, it’s been pretty surprising that MNJ played the minutes he already has. His cameo against Brentford was seen by some as a chance to give him some game time in a game that was already lost – and was seen by others as something of a message to the board.
