Academy product Nathaniel Chalobah is prepared to leave Chelsea permanently in search of regular first-team football, according to the Independent.

In the same week that Nathan Ake departed for Bournemouth, having failed to nail down a starting spot in Antonio Conte’s side, the Independent report that Chalobah is considering following in the Dutchman’s footsteps.

As per the Independent, Chalobah will look for the Stamford Bridge exit door if Conte fails to guarantee him playing time, and leaving his boyhood club on a permanent basis is the most likely option for the England U21 international this summer.

The Independent believe that Chalobah will return to the Cobham training ground this week for talks regarding his future at Chelsea. It is reported that the Blues hierarchy are keen to tie him down to a new deal, but he will snub any offers of a contract extension unless he is given assurances over his role in the squad.

If Chalobah does depart, you wouldn’t put it past us re-signing him for five times the amount we sell him for in a few years.
